Another Mini-Festival in glorious sunshine... this time at Chichester.
Connor showed some brilliant stick work in scoring in his first tournament, a great win against the hosts with Milly also scoring a memorable goal through the legs of 3 defenders. Owen gave us a great tournament start winning the opening game for us with a solo goal against Petersfield then we had some tense 0 – 0 draws with Fareham (twice) and Haslemere with chances at both ends.
Hugh and Ollie T were awesome in defence. In fact Ollie T was by far and away the most improved player... he hit the ball cleanly, tackled with commitment and took his free hits quickly. Just a shame about his haircut.
Ollie K put in some great tackles and Lauren on the left was graceful as always and a real shame she missed out on a goal. Daniel was the ever dependable heart of the team and impressed us all with his dribbling. Thank you to Milly for taking on captaincy duties.
A tragic loss to Gosport... we were confused every time the umpires whistle went... kids please listen to the umpire and react quickly. A great win in the Petersfield rematch with another solo goal (mid-air) from Owen. In the tournament deciding final game, we were well beaten by a Haslemere team who passed the ball to their wide players and showed us how to do it.
Really pleased with the effort everyone put in, lots of running and red faces. Good sportsmanship and some funny stories too. Some things to work on in training... kids keep your sticks down when we are defending and we must be quicker at the free hits. With 2 tournaments in November we need to work on hitting the ball out of defence.
