Havant Hockey Club – Men’s Section

August  2017

Objectives: Develop top class players, thrive in the National League, and provide competitive , enjoyable hockey.

Havant Hockey Club is focused both on the development of top class players, as well as the provision of good quality, competitive and enjoyable hockey. All teams participate in league hockey and naturally we aim to put out competitive sides, who others want to beat. We don't ever forget though that hockey is a social game and an excellent way of forging life long friendships, especially if you are new to the area.

Havant Men's 1s finished top of South Premier Division 1 last season and so return to the National Conference West after a three year break. Our objective this season is to retain our status and finish in the top half of the league. The team prepares in “professional way, training twice per week under the direction of coach, Ady Adams and manager, Steve Lawson. Players are expected to be 100% committed to the success of the team. With the majority of home games to be played on a Sunday, we're looking to draw a large and loud crowd to give the team maximum support.

The Men's 2s team contains top quality players including a number eager to gain a  place in the 1s.  The team play in Hampshire/Surry Regional Division 1 and trains every Tuesday evening with the 1s.  This provides an excellent opportunity for the players to develop as well as impress the 1s management team.

The Men's 3s consists of a number of ex 1s and 2s players who now play more for enjoyment as opposed to competing at the top level. The team plays in  Hampshire  Division 1; this often means playing against 1s and 2s from other clubs in the area.

The 4s, 5s and 6s  play in Hampshire Divisions 4, 5 and 7 respectively. The teams consist of mature non vet players plus youngsters, aged 14 upwards, who are taking their first steps in senior hockey. The younger players are assigned to the team best suited for their hockey development.

Club training for all teams below the 2s takes place on Wednesday evenings.

Veterans Hockey . Havant has two veteran teams, the Bees (over 35s) and the Cavaliers (over 50s). The Bees play in Wessex Masters Division 2 and the Cavaliers play in the Wessex Supervets Alliance . In reality, the average age of both teams is closer to 60, but both remain competitive in their respective competitions. In addition, and reflecting the age profile of the sides, the club enters the National O60s Cup.

If you want to play for Havant then I am sure there is a team that meets your desire for competition and enjoyment. Drop me a line, or just turn up to one of our training nights. You'll be made very welcome.
