HAVANT NEED DEFINITE POINTS

Our 1st XI men make the journey to the Midlands on Sunday to play Lichfield pushing back at 12.00 at Collins Field, Eastern Avenue, Lichfield. Despite our 0-1 loss last weekend to Team Bath we played very well and deserved something from the game.
We need to continue this form against Lichfield who are new to National League hockey, this being their first season. Lichfield have found it tough going and lie second from bottom in the table with 7 points.
Havant are currently in 4th position on 17 points and require all 3 points if they are to finish in their target of a top two finish.
When we played Lichfield back in October we ran out 4-0 winners, but we did not have it all our own way.
A mature and physical Lichfield put up plenty of resistance and kept the score to 2-0 at half time, Jon Smedley converted a penalty corner in the 14th minute and Andrew Pett scored a field goal on the half time whistle.
Two second half goals from Tom Murtagh and Colin French in the 56th & 65th minutes sealed the victory.
Havant will be at full strength except for Sunny, our Indian forward who is having trouble obtaining a visa to leave India, after returning home for Christmas.
A fixture this weekend that could have a bearing on our league position is Guildford in 3rd position who play Birmingham in 2nd position.

A Guildford loss and a Havant win would see us move up to 3rd in the table.
