Havant travelled to Birmingham University to be denied full points by a last minute Peter Jackson penalty corner goal.
This produced a 1-1 result in a tense finish in the first game back after Christmas.
As the game began it was Havant who dominated possession, and looked dangerous, forward play driven on by Ezz and Ben Mackey.
Birmingham had to defend well to prevent any early goals, surviving these attacks, began to create some of their own chances, threatening Havant's goal with some shots flashing past the far post.
It was after a series of attacks that a Birmingham defender tried to flick the ball across the pitch, Mackey intercepted the attempted aerial and passed to James Lester who crossed the ball for Tom Butt to deflect into the goal after 30 minutes.
The remaining minutes of the half saw both sides creating chances, but with most of the play occurring in the midfield. Havant survived a late penalty corner and went into the half time at 1-0
The second half began with the same intensity as the first, with hard tackles and high ball pace giving both teams chances. But unfortunately these chances never materialised to a goal.
With defence being the main priority, Havant slowly reasserted their dominance on the game and keep possession.
Birmingham were then forced to try long aerials over the Havant defence, however a resilient back four prevented any real opportunities arising.
Birmingham were then reduced to 10 men when Will Cairns was encroached upon whilst taking a self-pass. The one-man advantage for Havant allowed them to push on and force the pressure onto Birmingham.
New player Axel Anglada produced a good performance in his first league game for Havant, with some good tackling and good individual skills throughout the game.
Birmingham were lucky after some good individual skills on the right side of the pitch by Ezz who gave himself space to smash the ball into the goal, with only a good close range save by the goalkeeper keeping the score line at 1-0.
As the game went on, and Birmingham were back to 11 men, and the game became a fight of passion and commitment.
Near the end of the game, Andy Sparshott intercepted a pass in the middle of the pitch and ran straight through the Birmingham defence, as he neared the D though he unfortunately lost control of the ball and was unable to finish.
It was then in the final minute of the game, Havant conceded a short corner which Birmingham flicker Peter Jackson salvaged a point for his side with a good low straight shot.
Havant will want to take the positives from this game and use the same intensity and commitment for their next game, which is at home to Whitchurch next Sunday at 2 o’clock.
