20/11/16 : Girls Under 14 vs EHCup:Trojans

Away - Wellington, Stoneham Lane

Won 9 - 2

Fantastic match against Trojans on a chilly day

All the girls played exceptionally well today.  After the narrow defeat against Fareham in the first EH Cup match, Havant came out strong and dominated the first 35 mins with the majority of  play in the Trojans half.  Poppy Herbert taking the lead within minutes.  The next goal came shortly after from Isobel Lock.  Havant girls held strong throughout with some lovely ball skills from Emily Curwood and great defence on the wings from Grace White and Molly Blick reduced the Trojans options and made them play the ball down the middle of the field.  The next 4 goals came from Poppy Herbert taking us to 6 - 1 before the end of the first half.

Trojans came out fighting in the second half and Havant lost control for a while, strong defence from Tara Bell and Sophie Oliver ensured we didnt concede more goals but while we took the eye of the game, Trojans took advantage and scored.  With the score high, it allowed us to move some players out of position and out of their comfort zone and whilst a few were a bit nervous, it worked and it wasn't long before the Havant girls got back the fighting spirit we saw earlier in the game with Lara Heames making it 7, quickly followed by a lovely goal from Maddy Oliver and a perfect finish from Poppy Herbert ending the game 9 - 2.

Well done girls.

Poppy Herbert 6
