Junior Teams Reach National Finals!

Havant junior teams are on fire at the moment, with three through to National Age Group Finals!

Boys Under 18s  played London Wayfarers at Reading in the Tier 2 Championship Final and after a great effort went down 1-2 to London Wayfarers, our goal being scored by Gabriel Carvalho.

Girls Under 16s  (pictured above) travelled to Cambridge to meet Marden Russets in the  U16 Girls Tier 2 Plate Championship Final.  Havant dominated from the start and ran out worthy 5-0 winners with goals coming from Lucy Michna, Izzy Wiles, Scarlett Smith & Lauren Hill (2)

A brilliant effort and a first girls' National title for the Club!!

Meanwhile, the Girls Under 12s were the first Havant team ever to   qualify for the In2Hockey National Finals. The team travelled to  Nottingham Hockey Centre and finished tied 7th in the country, out of 100s of clubs..

The Search Is On

The search is on for a new  Women's 1st XI Head Coach.

Our W1s are now established in South Central Premier Division 1 and are ready to push into the higher tiers.

We seek the right candidate, ideally with National League coaching, or International playing experience, but potential and progression through coaching ranks will be looked upon favourably.

After reaching the Hampshire Cup Finals, two girls' teams making national finals and plans for a second pitch & clubhouse soon to be submitted, it's an exciting time to shape the future of Havant Hockey Club.

The vacancy will be spread across social media and throughout the hockey community, but if you know someone, or someone that knows someone else, who might suit the role, please put them in touch.

Please direct all enquiries to our Performance Director (and Vice Chair), Rajdeep Laly .

Announcement coming shortly regarding a new men's coach....

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Since we formed the advisory group about a year ago, we have managed to update the Codes of Conduct and the Disciplinary Code alongside to make them much more EDI friendly. Our next steps are to raise individual and Club awareness of all the issues and to ensure that we continue to improve our excellent reputation across the area as a club where all are welcomed and included from day 1.

We are a group of six but we really need as many different voices as possible to guide our practice and to embed the club’s vision into next season and beyond. If you would like to join us, we would love to hear from you, please contact Jan Parry .

The club is proud to support the Rainbow Laces campaign founded by StonewallUK. Laces are now available for purchase from the clubhouse kit cabinet, cost £3.

If you would like to ask any questions or raise issues in this area please complete this  report form  and email as instructed in the form.

Three Cheers for Ben!

Congratulations to Ben Hegan who was recently named in the final England U16 Boys squad for 2022, and is pictured below on their Easter Tour of the Netherlands.

Peter Beard, Havant HC Director of Coaching, said "Ben Hegan has long been a player to watch. His ability to eliminate a player in a one v one is impressive however, for me, his consistent, excellent core skills set him apart."

Ben currently plays in the U16s, plays up in the U18s and recently made his debut for the M1s in a Cup game.  He is a great asset to the club with a tremendous attitude, and gives back to the community by helping out at the Community Programme camps run successfully for many years for state school children in the local Borough.
