Havant were much the better team when we played Basingstoke in the quarter finals of the Wessex Cup. With so many opportunities it seemed impossible that we didn't score 8 goals or more! It just seemed like it was going to be one of those days where no matter what we couldn't get the ball in the back of the net! However, a well worked penalty corner saw Oli Jameson, flick the ball cheekily over the keeper and at last were ahead!
Unfortunately, early in the second half Basingstoke struck on the counter and the game was level. And despite our best efforts and playing some really good hockey, that was the result at the end of normal time. So, extra time, 7 minutes each way, was played and although we won 3 penalty corners and hit the crossbar, 1-1 was still the score at the end of extra time. It was all going to come down to penalty flicks!
Havant went ahead early in the flicks and in fact didn't have to take the last one after keeper Alex Bolton saved their third and fourth flick to put us through to the semis!
