15/10/17 : Girls Under 16 vs Fareham (EH Cup)

Away - Henry Cort School

Cup

Won 2 - 1

A hard fought 2 1 victory in our first national cup match of the season!

A match against local rivals Fareham is always going to be well contested and this was no exception. Having recently lost to fareham in the league, Havant were determined to battle hard!

Half way through the first half we conceded a goal but the game was flowing from end to end and the pressure to clear the ball from both sides was huge.

The half time talk from Meados reinvigorated the team and we started the 2nd half with an early equaliser from Poppy Herbert.

The tension was mounting but it just seemed that the Havant pressure was building and with 15 minutes to go, a ball into the from Emma Holmes was followed in by Rosie Palmer to score her debut goal for Havant which was greeted with squeals of delight on the side lines!!

Still the pressure kept mounting, a great charge from Izzy Fremantle in goal to clear the lines and keep her shut out for the second half.   With 2 minutes to go we found ourselves in the Fareham D - no goal but no time left for fareham to equalise.

A superb team effort from every player. Well deserved MOTM for Emma Holmes and a great way to start our National Cup campaign.  Thanks to all the parents for all their support.  Well played havant u16 girls!
