The game started brightly for both teams, although neither were able to create any clear cut chances. Bath had the better of the early exchanges but could not trouble Maciej Pacanowski in the Havant goal.
Havant were soon in the game with some good work from Miguel Rodrigues who fed the ball to Charlie Stubbings who won Havants 1st penalty corner. Unfortunately the routine broke down at the top of the circle and the chance went begging.
Bath soon won their own penalty corner (14th minute) but this was charged down by Havant's skipper Craig Duffy. Havant's midfield created a great chance for Matt Cox, but his reverse stick shot was well saved by the Bath goalkeeper.
It was not until the 28th minute when Havant took a deserved lead. Havant attacked down the right with Ethan Hoddle, whose cross found Akhtar Ali at the top of the circle, Akhtar turned his defender and drilled his shot into the net.
Havant pushed for a second and Ethan Hoddle and Charlie Stubbings linked well again and this time Ethan shot flashed just outside of the Bath goal.
Charlie then earned himself a yellow card and this gave Bath the upper hand, but Bath too went down to ten men, as they picked up their own five minute yellow card. The half finished with a 1-0 lead for Havant and coach Raj Laly was refocusing his team ready for the inevitable response from Bath.
The second half started with some great play from Jack Stubbings driving into the Bath defence and he was up-ended by the goalkeeper, but the umpires waved play on. Bath were causing trouble to the Havant defence but they held firm with Chris Smith and Jonathan Pickett making key interceptions.
Havant were dangerous on the counter attack with Matt Boote linking well with Ethan Hoddle who created another chance via Miguel Rodrigues, but his high shot was well saved by the Bath goalkeeper.
Then Havant's other set of brothers, Tom and Harry Croft-Baker started to link down the right flank and crossed to the far post where man of the match Akhtar Ali nearly doubled Havants lead.
It was not until the 61st minute until Havant won their second penalty corner. Federico Bertoni's flick hitting the postman’s foot on the line and a penalty stroke was awarded. Charlie Stubbings having converted two penalties last week, calmly stepped up and made no mistake to give Havant a two goal lead.
Bath withdrew their goalkeeper to try and get back into the game, but Havant defence held firm. However in the 68th minute, Bath did get a life line with a far post tap in.
Havant held their nerve and completed a well deserved victory. This result moves Havant up into third position in the table.
