Fantastic to be out there competing with other local clubs again.
A mini- festival in every sense, we were limited to just 30 people on the pitch, so 4 teams of 6 plus coaches, were involved and we played each team twice. Perfect weather, a more social able Sunday start time and a continuous set of fixtures with little rest in between. Perfect!
Over our six games, the team battled hard, competed well and began to show signs of team ethics. Perhaps it’s often about how you start, but today I was more interested in how we finished.
We created more chances the more we played, we became more connected giving the ball and then being more available to receive the ball again. Yes, lots to learn, but a solid start and signs of improvement for sure.
The children picked their ‘player of the festival’, these were the responses:
Toby Illing- great positions on the pitch, often in the right place at the right time.
Gracie Lovett-always in good space
Finn Burnett- Great defending and use of the ball
Wilbur - Good passing and good positions.
Maisie – Playing high up the pitch and available in attack.
Bryn -competitive/combative on the pitch
I chose Toby and Finn as stand out performances. Toby was also the creative element of our midfield as well as offering great cover in defence. His reactions to the play were excellent. Finn was really solid and hard for any attack to penetrate. Improved his choice of distribution from the back too especially from set play. Eg 16’s and side-lines.
Next training will look at using more width, getting our heads up, more give and go and getting into the D more often.
Results : Played 6 Won 0, Drew 5, Lost 1 Goals scored 3 Goals conceded 4.
Tight games and small margins.
Thank you also to Chichester to the Chocolate boost at the end.
