I expect some of you will pick up this message on a beach or by a swimming pool, with a glass of something cold close by. You'll probably hit the delete button, slap on some more suncream and have another snooze. Others I know have had their summer fun and are chomping at the bit to get back to hockey. So when's it all happening then? Read on.
Hockey fitness and conditioning sessions
First off, the return of Guy’s fitness sessions. We ran these last season and they are back by popular demand. These hourly sessions will start on Wednesday 23 August at 7.30pm and run for six weeks until 27 September. You must be at least 16 to take part. There is a maximum class size of 30 for these sessions and it's strictly first come, first served on the night - get there early.
For insurance reasons, before taking part you must complete a short medical questionnaire. You can either do this online or print it off and bring along the first time you attend.
To access the questionnaire, go to:
The password is ‘havant’.
Men's training night
Wednesday night training returns on Wednesday 30 August. Up to 27 September the session will run from 8.30pm until 10.00pm. From 4 October, it will move to 7.30pm to 9.30pm. This will hopefully ensure we don't get disrupted by frost.
Our new Director of Coaching, Peter Beard aka Beardo, has already found a new coach for Wednesday nights and I'm hopeful we'll be able to announce a coach for the Men's 2s shortly. When I know more I'll let you know.
The Men's 1s are already well into their pre-season training and the 2s training starts next week.
The league season starts again on 30 September. Leading up to that, a full set of friendlies have been arranged for all teams. These start on 9 September, which will also be a club day. Full details on that will follow.
In the meantime, all friendly and league fixtures are up on the website. Start filling in your availability now.
