New Club President

At Havant Hockey Club's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 20th June, David Faulkner was appointed the new Club President.

David Faulkner who won an Olympic Gold hockey medal in 1988 and who was so influential in the early 90’s when Havant won three National league titles in four years returns to take a more active role in club affairs.  Chris Pickett who has been Club President for the last eighteen years became the new Club Chairman after Bill Jones stepped down from this position, a position he held for the last eight years.

Quote from Chris Pickett:

“I am absolutely delighted David accepted the nomination to become our new club President and very much look forward to working with him again over the coming years. David brings a wealth of experience within hockey and a multi-sport environment, which feature in the clubs new facilities aspirations . Having been Performance Director of England Hockey helping Great Britain women win a bronze medal at the London Olympics and currently Head of Women’s Performance for the Football Association David will offer the input into our strategic direction required to ensure the club continues to grow and flourish, whilst our juniors play at the highest possible standard according to their abilities, with talented players moving onto elite hockey within Havant and their country.”

Quote from David Faulkner:

“I owe Havant Hockey Club and its members a huge gratitude in how the club supported me, not just in my playing days for Havant and country, but also when I transitioned from Director of Hockey at Havant into the professional positions I have held. It is clear club hockey remains reliant on dedicated volunteers covering all areas of governance, in the development of players, coaches and umpires so they fulfil their potential and provide commercial sustainability. I hope I can offer from my experienced insight on not just how to work smarter, but also to be prepared to work differently, to enhance development and performance. Also, to help the club develop strong robust processes for long term sustainability, provide every member a positive experience in all aspects, as experience as told me this normally provides positive outcomes both on and off the field of play. I relish working with a dedicated club team to the best of my ability”
