Talent Centre Announcement

The club is delighted and proud to announce that it is now an accredited Talent Centre. This accreditation, from England Hockey, is an endorsement of both the junior section as a whole and, in particular, the hockey provision for those players aged 12 and upwards who have shown potential and want to develop their game to the next level. To achieve this award the club had to demonstrate its competence across a range of areas e.g. leadership and governance, coaching, talent development, player wellbeing, culture, equality, diversity and inclusion. Havant is one of just thirty-three clubs in the country, and four in Hampshire, with Talent Centre accreditation.

Captain of the Junior Section, Mark Webb said “Well done to everyone on the accreditation team who worked with England Hockey to demonstrate we met the standard they wanted. This award also reflects the tremendous work that goes on every week from coaches, helpers, parents and team managers to make sure our young players have an enjoyable hockey experience that they want to repeat every week.”

Club Chair, Glyn Knaresborough added “This award demonstrates that parents can choose Havant with confidence as a club where their children will be in a safe environment that will enable them to flourish and reach their potential. Hockey is great sport. With our community programme, we will continue to get that message out to junior schools in the area and look forward to welcoming more young players and their parents to our club.”

The work doesn’t stop here. Over the next twelve months, members of the junior section and coaches will work with England Hockey in a number of areas, all aimed at raising the quality of hockey provision even higher.
