Mens Season 2023/24

Our Objectives : To develop top class players, thrive in the National League and provide competitive, enjoyable hockey at all levels

Havant Hockey Mens section is focused both on the development of top class players, as well as provision of good quality, competitive, enjoyable hockey from beginners to veterans. All our teams participate in league hockey and naturally we aim to put out competitive sides, who others want to beat. We never forget that hockey is a social game and an excellent way of forging lifelong friendships, especially if you are new to the area. We welcome back those who have stopped playing hockey (for whatever reason) and wish to return to this great sport.

M1s in action

Havant Mens 1st XI were promoted last year back into Division 1 (South) of England Hockey National League, one level below the Premier Division. The team aspire to return to the highest club level in the land, as the club has long been known for in previous decades, winning the highest tier in domestic club competition four times during the 1990-2010 period and competing at European Level.

Playing at this level is a big commitment with time and travel requirements, it is exciting to see that several players from the Junior section and our Community programmes have made their way into the 1st team, an age-old Havant tradition.

Home games this season will mostly be on a Sunday afternoon, though we have arranged some fixtures for a Saturday evening, when we look for the Havant Hockey Official Supporters Club to help draw in a large and noisy crowd to give the team maximum support again this season.

Mens Teams

With a recent nationwide restructure of hockey leagues, our mens teams predominantly play in leagues within the South Central region.

  • M1s – National Division 1 South
  • M2s – South Division 1
  • M3s – South Division 2
  • M4s – South Division 3
  • M5s – South Division 5
  • M6s – Solent Division 1

The range of teams in the men’s section allows a blend of elite talent pathways, player development alongside vast amounts of experience and naturally, the pure enjoyment of hockey.

Veterans (Masters) Hockey

If a slightly slower pace of play and more of a social element is appealing to you, then Veterans Hockey might be for you!

Havant has two men’s veterans teams, The Bees (over 40s) and The Cavaliers (over 50s).

The Bees are past champions in the South Masters League while the Cavaliers play in the Wessex Supervets Alliance. The teams also enter respective age Cup competitions.

Some of our veterans have represented England Masters in their respective age groups.

Bees win Mike Ward Memorial Tournament at Bournemouth April 2022

If you are interested in playing for Havant at any level, then we are sure there is a team which meets your desire for competition and enjoyment. Drop us a line on either on the addresses below or just come along to one of our training nights. You will be very welcome.
