We welcome all children to our sessions from school age upwards.  The U8 players are school years 1-3 and the U10 are school years 4 & 5.  (There may be some flexibility over age categories in discussion with the head coach, in order to best meet the needs of a child).

Havant has an amazing Community Programme and Mini’s is an excellent next step from School hockey into Club hockey, with a very inclusive and friendly set-up so everyone can join in.

When and Where?

The Minis training (both U8s & U10s) takes place on the Astro pitch at Havant College, PO9 1QL.
Training is Sunday mornings from 9:30am to 11am, from September through to Easter.

Your child is welcome to come along and have a try to see if they like it. The sessions are a mix of games, skills and match practice with an emphasis on fun and inclusivity, all lead by qualified & DBS certified coaches.

Given the age of this group we ask that each child has a responsible adult stay pitchside during the training.

This season, we will breaking the Minis programme into term blocks, to allow new members to join at any time without the financial commitment until they are ready. Financial hardship support is available on request for membership and kit.

Clothing:

They do not need to purchase any club kit, but they will need shin pads, a good fitting mouth guard, a snack and some water. The club has sticks that can be borrowed if necessary. Mouth guards can be bought online or at Sports Direct or Decathlon, I would strongly advise that you fit it at home and make sure they are happy with the fit.

Matches:

Throughout the season in addition to Sunday training sessions there are a number of friendly hockey matches and tournaments where we travel to play other teams in the local area or host a home match.  These are usually on Sunday mornings.  Everyone will get a chance to play and they are great fun.

Whilst a Mini, your membership fee covers both weekly Sunday training and any matches.

Who organises the Training?

All coaches and managers are volunteers and we welcome any support parents can offer.  Everyone involved in hands-on coaching or managing the teams has an up-to-date DBS.

You can contact the Havant Minis team, led by Harminder Kalsi, by email here

We look forward to meeting you.
